Before and After {Fireplace Make-over}

Our clients Callie Anne and Bryan recently purchased a home in Spring Valley, and they're making some updates before Callie Anne moves in after their wedding in 2016.

We went by for a "walk-through" of the home and made recommendations for what we think they should update now, and what updates can wait. Much of the young couple's house already looks great, so many of our suggestions were pretty basic, such as changing light fixtures, and adding a few rugs and artwork.

We knew it would have a huge impact on the entire aesthetic of the home if they changed the large, black marble fireplace. We recommended they remove the black marble because it's too dark and doesn't fit the couple's style. Callie Anne and Bryan loved the oversized gray slate we showed them, so we were off and running.

What do you think?

Does this make you want to change the mantel/fireplace at your home? The lighter, stylish slate reminds us that your home can always be transformed with a little imagination. (Okay, and some major elbow grease: it took a full day to chisel off that black marble.)

Here you can see the decaying brick that was under the black marble, and how our team used spacers before adding grout.

We love how this change immediately added warmth and a sophisticated feel to the living room.
