Let's Show Yellowstone Academy Some Love!!!

My husband, Tom, had lots of "catch phrases" and he often told our kiddos: "to whom much has been given, much is expected." That certainly applies to me this year, specifically as business has grown and I've been blessed with success. (and I've had fun, too!)

My daughter and I are chairing the annual Yellowstone Academy Speaker's Luncheon this year. Yellowstone has been dear to my heart since it opened it's doors in 2002. The school was founded by my friends Kristi and David Lumpkins, and many board members and loyal supporters of the school are good friends of ours, too. Courtney worked at Yellowstone for one year as the director of volunteers, and continues to keep in touch with a handful of students.

Yellowstone Academy is an incredible place - it's a school in the Third Ward near downtown Houston, and this is their mission statement - Yellowstone Academy serves children from families living in extreme poverty with a program designed to provide the resources they need to reach their full potential.

Tom and I were "shepherds" for many years - mentors to two students, a brother and sister, and we were able to learn first hand the many unique challenges these students face. (For example, the median family income is below $10,000.)

I'm very excited about this year's luncheon speaker, Donald Miller. Donald grew up in Houston and has written many best-selling Christian books, such as Blue Like Jazz and Storylines, and I had the chance to hear him speak in 2013 at Bob Goff's Love Does conference. Don is a very compelling, motivating speaker - you will not want to miss the chance to hear from him!

Sweet friends, we would LOVE for you to join us Feb. 4 for the Yellowstone Luncheon. Grab a group of friends and come hear encouraging words from Don Miller! And, be encouraged by what's happening in the heart of Houston, through Yellowstone's efforts to educate students who deserve the same quality education as that of our own children- and grandchildren!

You can purchase a table or tickets (grab 9 friends and fill a table!!) online by clicking here or you can call Jennifer (contact info at end of this post.)

If you haven't seen Yellowstone's "Happy" video you should take two minutes and watch - you'll be dancing along, I promise! (Click the box on the right to play video.)

Courtney and I would love to see you at River Oaks Country Club on Wednesday, February 4!

(And don't miss a performance from the Yellowstone choir!)

Love, Cathy
