You open a studio in just one week. Tell us how you’re feeling!

More than a little nervous! I’m hoping people will enjoy the treasures we’ve collected. It’s certainly been fun discovering them!

What’s your favorite lunch spot in Houston?

Tiny Boxwoods! Their kale salad and of course the warm chocolate chip cookies.

You’ve lived in Houston for your whole life, except for your time at the Univ. of Texas. If you could live anywhere but Houston, where would you choose?

It would be hard to choose just one place! In a fantasy, I might like to live at the Round Top antique fair. Or, Crested Butte, Colorado!

Any design tips for DIY designers?

Study magazines! Reading home design magazines is like bringing an interior designer to your house, for free! They always have great paint selections that you can see in actual rooms, provide great furniture layouts, and keep you updated on the latest trends.

April’s Traditional Home and Veranda highlighted the return of classic blue and white to the design scene.

Some of my go-to favorites: Southern Living, Veranda, Traditional Home, Cottage Living, and House Beautiful!

What’s inspiring you this week?

I’m looking forward to spring, and all it brings with it! Lighter clothes, brighter colors, freshening flowerbeds, and digging out from under our heavy quilts and coats.

In the word's of Cathy's grandfather, Merci Beaucoup!
