before the renovation
We're almost ready to reveal pictures of our renovation house, but first, let's appreciate the home's past.
Built in 1956, the house has had just one owner, a couple that lived there almost forty years together. The wife sold the home in 2013 and our designer, Cathy, knew it was the ideal job for her - she was looking for something to keep her busy, and it was right across the street. Talk about a short commute!
The house has great "bones" so the demolition work was feasible. Cathy reconfigured several areas of the home, including using the space of the small fourth bedroom/office to create a large walk-in master closet and relocate the laundry room to an over-sized closet in the hall.
Opening Walls and Closing Off Others
We closed the opening between the dining room and kitchen to create a larger kitchen and utilize more of the space in the original dining room, now den.
Raise the Roof
The house originally had 8-foot ceilings and Cathy raised them to 10-foot ceilings in the entry way, dining room, den, living room, and kitchen. You'll really see the difference...stay tuned for our after pictures this week!
