a fabulous farmhouse fix-up
Welcome to the living room! This charming farm house was built in 2008 and our designer refined it's look in July 2013. She started by painting the bead board and tin ceilings with Benjamin Moore natural wicker.
The mantle was removed off the brick fireplace and two antique wash baskets were hung in it's place. The ikat rug was found at Wrare in Fort Worth and set the color scheme for the home.
Instead of a more traditional low coffee table, Cathy placed a vintage wine table in the center of the room, so that friends can pull up a chair for impromptu meals or games together.
The wingback chairs were found on Craigslist, and slipcovers were made in two different patterns to be changed with the seasons.
On the opposite wall is a painting by an Austin artist of a sidewalk scene on South Congress.
This antique wooden frame hangs above a bench for extra seating when needed.
Along the wall is an antique cabinet, with sentimental family items like the wooden church purchased years ago in Fredericksburg. The cow painting was purchased while the designer was traveling in Switzerland with her husband, celebrating their 30th anniversary.
